Relevance. As a result of prolonged exposure of orthodontic equipment in the oral cavity, especially during the period of early and late replacement bite, the risk of focal demineralization of hard dental tissues, inflammatory phenomena in the periodontium increases, and the antigenic load increases. At the same time, the most common, simple and effective means of preventing diseases of hard tissues of teeth and periodontitis is toothpaste. The range of pastes is extremely diverse and is regularly updated, so choosing a remedy for daily use is not an easy task not only for the patient, but also for the attending physician. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of a new domestic toothpaste ASEPTA TEENS with a refreshing watermelon flavor among children undergoing orthodontic treatment with aligners. Materials and methods. 51 patients aged 8 to 14 years with anomalies of teeth and dentition living in St. Petersburg, who were divided into two groups, were under dynamic observation for 2 months. The first (control) group consisted of 21 people who refused orthodontic treatment and used the most familiar means for individual oral hygiene. The second group included 30 people who have been using aligners for 3 to 6 months. For daily oral care, they were recommended ASEPTA TEENS toothpaste with a refreshing watermelon flavor. The level of oral hygiene, the condition of periodontal tissues, the acid resistance of enamel, the pH of mixed saliva, the content of secretory immunoglobulin A and microcrystallization of oral fluid were evaluated. All measurements in both groups were carried out before the start of the study and on the 40-45 day after the start of observation. Results. As a result of the study, among the patients undergoing orthodontic treatment with aligners, an improvement in the condition of periodontal tissues, an increase in the acid resistance of enamel, normalization of the hydrogen index, local immune status, as well as the crystallographic type of mixed saliva testified to high caries resistance of hard dental tissues when using a new domestic toothpaste containing chestnut extracts, aloe and magnolias. Conclusions. The data obtained during the study allowed us to conclude that ASEPTA TEENS toothpaste with the taste of refreshing watermelon is highly effective after one month of use in children during orthodontic using the aligners.
